Built for compliance teams at brands shipping to the EU.
The Problem
EPR compliance is a mess
EU environmental regulations are fragmented, fast-changing, and expensive to get wrong. Here's what you're up against.
27 countries, 27 rulebooks
Each EU member state has its own registration authority, fee structure, and reporting cadence. Keeping track manually is a full-time job.
4 streams, countless obligations
Packaging, WEEE, batteries, and now textiles — each stream has distinct thresholds, deadlines, and documentation requirements.
PPWR is coming fast
The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation goes into force August 2026. Non-compliance means fines, blocked shipments, and reputational damage.
Spreadsheets don't scale
Manual tracking breaks when you enter a new market or add a product line. One missed registration can cascade into penalties across jurisdictions.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is EPR and who does it apply to?
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) makes producers responsible for the full lifecycle of their products and packaging — from design to disposal. If you sell physical products in the EU, EPR applies to you. Even a single unit of packaged goods sold online triggers obligations in most member states.
Do I need to register in every EU country I sell to?
Yes. Each EU member state has its own EPR registers and compliance schemes. Selling to Germany means LUCID registration; selling to France means Citeo and ADEME registrations. DutyScope shows you exactly which registrations you need per country, per product — in one view.
What happens if I don't comply?
Non-compliance carries serious consequences: marketplace listing deactivation (Amazon, eBay), fines up to €200,000 in Germany, product withdrawal orders, and in some countries, criminal liability. Marketplaces are actively verifying producer registrations and will suspend non-compliant sellers.
How is DutyScope different from hiring a compliance agency?
Compliance agencies charge €500–€3,000+ per country per year. DutyScope gives you the same information — which registrations you need, what they cost, and when to report — for a flat monthly subscription. Plus, you get a visual matrix that no agency provides. Think of it as compliance self-serve with an expert co-pilot.
Does DutyScope handle WEEE and batteries too?
Yes. DutyScope covers all four major EPR streams: Packaging, WEEE (electronics), Batteries, and Textiles. You enter your product data once and we calculate obligations across all streams and all countries.
When does PPWR take effect and what should I do?
The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) becomes enforceable on August 12, 2026. From that date, every package on the EU market needs a Declaration of Conformity with recyclability grades, and PFAS restrictions kick in for food-contact packaging. Start auditing your packaging now — read our full PPWR guide for details.
Is the free EPR checker really free?
Yes. The obligation checker at /check is completely free — no credit card required. It gives you a basic overview of your EPR duties. The full DutyScope platform adds ongoing tracking, deadline alerts, declaration management, document storage, and config freshness monitoring.
How do you keep country configs up to date?
Every country config has a lastReviewed date visible in the platform. Our config engine reviews regulatory changes across PRO bulletins, ministerial decrees, and national registers. When rules change, configs are updated and the freshness date refreshes — you'll see it immediately in your dashboard.
